Details have not been finalized. The schedule below is based on prior performances at the Troy contest. Details of the schedule will change.
7:45 am - Everyone arrives at the band hall. Please do not be late.
8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. - Rehearsal. We will do a walk thru of the drill, a review of visuals and get dressed.
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Travel to Troy University.
Travel uniform will be Khaki shorts, band shoes, short black socks and show shirt.
1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. - Picnic Lunch from Crowe's Chicken. ***See notes below about Crowe's Chicken.
2:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. - Inside stadium to watch bands. You will be able to watch 11 bands. You will leave at 5:15 following Escambia Co. H.S.
5:15 p.m. - 5:50 p.m. - Meet at the buses, change clothes.
5:50 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. - Unload Equipment
6:15 p.m. - 6:25 p.m. - Travel to warm-up
6:25 p.m. - 6:55 p.m. - Warm-Up
6:55 p.m. -7:00 p.m. - Travel to the gate
7:05 p.m. - 7:20 p.m. - Performance!!!
7:20 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Load, Stay in bibbers down.
8:00 p.m. - Go back to the stadium to watch Troy University's Sound of the South Marching Band and Awards.
Our Meal Deals will be delivered when we return to the stadium.
Students need to eat dinner in the stadium or the Meal-Deal provided, we will not be stopping for food on the way home.
10:00 p.m. - Load Busses
10:20 p.m. - 1:20am Travel to NHS
1:30 a.m. - 2:00 am Unload
2:00 a.m. - GO HOME! :-)
***Traditionally, we have a picnic style dinner featuring Crowe's Chicken. The meal includes a chicken strip box and a drink. (The cost of Crowe's lunch meal deal for students and chaperones is $8.00 and includes a drink. We will collect meal deal money on THURSDAY of this week during school. Please bring exact Change.) We will have a picnic lunch when we arrive the stadium.
We will have our hamburger meal-deals in the stadium for dinner around 8:15 pm. Students not wanting the meal-deal are welcome to go into the stadium and eat from the concession stands once the band returns to the stadium.
For those parents who are driving their vehicles and going as spectators: Tickets are $7.00 for those seven years, and older. 6 and under are free. Parking will be $5.00
The gate and parking are cash only. The Pepwear souvenir stand will take cards.
STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO RIDE THE BUS WITH THE BAND TO THE COMPETITION. Students may be checked out and ride home with a PARENT or other ADULT with the properly signed notes turned in prior to the trip. We cannot take notes at the site.
A note about Chaperones: With all of our events, we need and appreciate those parents who chaperone for us. Participation is at an all-time high this year and seeing all of the volunteers around the band hall is exciting. However, if you sign up for one of the available chaperone slots, it is expected that you fully participate that day. That includes riding the bus, sitting with students and helping them throughout the event.
If your plans change, we need to know ASAP. There have been a few times this season that parents weren't able to participate due to lack of room on the volunteer schedule. Unfortunately, when the times for the events came around, we've had a few no-shows and have been left scrambling to find someone to fill the spot. To me, this lessens the experience for the students as well as making it more difficult for the chaperones.
So, if you think you've signed up for events and your schedule makes it impossible for you to attend, let us know. We'd like to give as many parents as possible the opportunity to enjoy working with our students.
Lastly, at this particular event, we are allotted one chaperone armband per 8 students. Priority for those armbands is reserved for those parents who sign up for the event and participate at the level expected. All others will have to pay at the gate.
