A note about Chaperones: With all of our events, we need and appreciate those parents who chaperone for us. Participation is at an all time high this year and seeing all of the parents around the band hall is exciting. However, if you sign up for one of the available chaperone slots we expect you to fully participate that day. That includes riding the bus, sitting with students and helping them throughout the event.
If your plans change, we need to know asap. There have been a few times this season that parents weren't able to participate due to lack of room on the volunteer schedule. Unfortunately, when the times for the events came around, we've had a few no shows and have been left scrambling to find someone to fill the spot. To me, this lessens the experience for the students as well as makes it a bit more difficult for the chaperones.
So, if you think you've signed up for events and your schedule makes it impossible for you to attend, let us know. We'd like to give as many parents as possible the opportunity to enjoy working with our students.
Lastly, at this particular event, we are allotted 1 chaperone arm band per 8 students. Priority for those armbands is reserved for those parents who sign up for the event and participate at the level expected. All others will have to pay at the gate.
