Itinerary for the week of Oct. 4th - 9th.

10/3/2021

What a great weekend!!! Our kids did such a great job this past weekend at the Black Water Classic! The staff and I are so proud of them. We are confident that they'll do even better this coming weekend. Our last marching contest of the season is this Saturday, Oct. 9th. at FWB HS. If you have the time, and would like to come out and cheer on our students, you should really try to make it. They are great!

9/19/2021

Hey Everyone!
Thank you so much for the kind text and calls asking about my family as we had Covid and pneumonia. Luckily, we have all recovered and are doing well. I do appreciate your kindness.
As you know, we are about to enter our sixth week of the marching season. Over the next three weekends, we will have our mini-camp/preview show and family cookout, compete at the Milton contest, Perform at District MPA, and perform at the Santa Rosa Marching Exhibition in Milton. So we are going to be busy.
This is just a friendly reminder that students need be at all rehearsals the whole time. Over the next several weeks, we will finish our show and take it as far as possible. It is hard to make the best of our efforts with people missing.
Here are a few critical dates when we will need all students present so that we can do our very best.
  • All upcoming rehearsals
  • Saturday, Sept. 25th. - Mini Camp/Preview/Family Cookout
  • Saturday, Oct. 2nd. - Milton Contest
  • Saturday, Oct. 9th. - District Marching MPA Ft. Walton Bch.
I will post specific itineraries here and on the calendar as complete information is made available to me.
Again, I entirely understand the crazy times we live in, and I'm simply asking that we all do our best to be present.
Thank you to all of you who have helped Tina and Janet in concessions. You guys are amazing!
I hope you all have a great week!

Read or not, here it comes!

I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to being back in the classroom with all of our students! I can't wait to watch our group's progress over the entire marching season, indeed, the whole school year. My hope for all of us is that we can regain some normalcy and enjoy our time together.

Our first week of school will be a busy one for everyone. In addition to meeting new teachers/students, we will start our regular rehearsal schedule. Remember, we have rehearsals Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Rehearsals are co-curricular events, which means they are an extension of the classroom. Therefore, I expect that you attend all of them.

As usual, students will be bombarded with paperwork during the first week of school. All of it is important. Would you please make every attempt to return that paperwork by Friday?

This week's itinerary:

Monday, Aug. 9th. - Teacher Planning - The Band Hall will be open for anyone who would like to come to practice. 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 10th., - First day for students. Rehearsal 4:00 - 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 11th., - No rehearsal. The band hall is closed.
Thursday, Aug. 12th. - Full Band rehearsal 4-5:30 p.m.
Meet the Band 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. - Students should wear their black shorts, a clean white t-shirt, and their band shoes. If they do not have their band shoes, please wear the darkest tennis shoes they have. Also, students will need their marching shoes for their performance on Friday, Aug. 20th.
Friday, Aug., 13th. - No rehearsal. The band hall is closed.

A few reminders for rehearsals.
  • Your student will wear black shorts, a white t-shirt, and either laced-up tennis shoes or marching shoes each day at rehearsal.
  • Students should bring a snack for after school.
  • Students will have access to ice and water. They should bring their water jug.
  • Students should also continue to bring hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.
  • Students and at least one parent should be signed up for the Remind Group Texting service.
  • Please make sure to turn in your carwash monies and band fair share donations.

Lastly, Parents, please consider getting involved in the Navarre High School Band Parent Association. We need your help to make this the best experience for our students.

Thanks!

Dean Barrow, Band Director

It's starting to feel a little more like normal around the band hall each day. Last week was one of the best this semester! It felt so good to have a full band rehearsal finally, and you guys sounded great!  Then, to end the week with a great BBQ Plate sale made it all the better.

A special thanks to all parents and students who made the sale happen on Friday and Saturday. If you have never participated, you should. Many parents and students work for our group, but we could always use more. With a group our size, we should never have to struggle for parents or students to volunteer.

The PUBLIC loves our BBQ, and even more, they LOVE supporting the RAIDER BAND!

A special thanks go out to Miss Tina for staying up all night Friday and all day Saturday, cooking the BBQ. Also, a big thank you to Miss Janet for coordinating the sales and passing out the plates.

This week will be a busy one, so please, check out this post, look at the calendar, and make sure to be where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there.
