Tri-State Band Festival! The dates for the 2017 Tri-State Festival are Thursday, November 30 thru Sunday, December 3rd on the campus of Florida State University. Each year, the festival features nationally and internationally renowned guest conductors and FSU music faculty in an intensive schedule of rehearsals, masterclasses, professional clinics, and concerts. The conductors for the 2017 Tri-State Festival are Alan Mills (Colorado State University-Pueblo), Karen Fannin (University of Nebraska- Omaha), Scott Boerma (Western Michigan University), Phil Wharton (Florida Bandmasters Association, Retired 37 years), and Robert Morgan (Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Retired 24 years). Due to the weather projections for this weekend, the trip to Troy has been cancelled.
Stay safe and dry this weekend! -dean The answer right now is yes.
We are waiting on two things: First, the organizers of the Troy Contest, are working to condense the schedule for tomorrow so that the contest will end earlier. That will most likely mean that the contest will start earlier as well. Secondly, we are awaiting a decision from the Superintendent today as to whether or not all weekend activities will be cancelled. That should come after the 11:00 am EOC meeting. Lastly, I too am concerned about coming back home late. The last thing we want is to get back home around 1 am and have the storm hitting about the same time. With all that being said, I will let you know our plans later this afternoon when I have more to go on. I appreciate your patience, dean- |
